What is TEDx?

TED is a non-profit organisation devoted to the Ideas Worth Spreading, which usually take place in the form of short, powerful talks. The origin of the conference is a four-day experience in California in 1984. Since then, the annual conference takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia. The major figures in the world of Science, Technology, Social Development, and Politics have taken part in them.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The independently organised TEDx conferences act as a window to the world of ideas and powerful messages brought about by speakers from around the world. These local, self-organised conferences are following the general guidance of the main conference and are, therefore, subject to specific regulations.
